Congratulations…

The iDigNauvoo team would like to congratulate the Western Illinois University Archaeological Field School for their exemplary work in excavating the Hyrum Smith Office and Store in Nauvoo, Illinois, in 2024. Their hard work made it possible for them to finish the dig for this site. We look forward to their published report on their findings.

A special thanks goes to Professor Jacob Skousen and the Western Illinois University Field School students who provided expertise and energy in making this year’s dig a great success.

We would also like to thank Lach and Kristen Mckay of the Joseph Smith Historical Site, and Ben Pykles and Ryan Saltzgiver of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Historical Department for their unfailing support. And a special shout-out to all of the many iDigNauvoo volunteers who have given countless hours of service over the past six years in excavating this specific site.

In 2025, we plan to excavate the site of the William Scearce home, located in the Nauvoo town proper on Young Street. More information about this and other archaeological investigations will be forthcoming.
